Quantitative accelerated degradation testing: Practical approaches
نویسندگان
چکیده
The concept of accelerated testing by tracking degradation of samples over test time needs to be developed for reliability estimation. This paper aims at proposing practical approaches to conduct accelerated degradation testing on new and available used samples. For this purpose, product failure is related to a suitable physical property. Then, its failure time is defined as the expected time in which its property reaches the critical level. Degradation model of field samples returned from service due to a degrading failure mode has been estimated based on the least square method, and available gap between manufacturer criterion and user’s claim (to report a failure) has also been discussed. For a product under some stresses, a general formula has been proposed by the superposition principle in order to estimate its degradation for independent and dependent failure modes. If used samples are available, and acceleration factor of the related test is unknown, partial aging method has been presented to considerably shorten the test time. & 2009 Elsevier Ltd. Design and Analysis of Step Stress Accelerated Life Tests for Censored Data}
Life testing often is consuming a very long time for testing. Therefore, the engineers and statisticians are looking for some approaches to reduce the running time. There is a recommended method for reducing the time of failure, such that the stress level of the test units will increase, and then they will fail earlier than normal operating conditions. These approaches are called accelerated li...
متن کاملDurability of Materials in a Stress-Response Framework: Acrylic Materials for Photovoltaic Systems
In the development of novel materials for enhanced photovoltaic (PV) performance, it is critical to have quantitative knowledge of the initial performance, as well as the performance of these materials over the required 25-year lifetime of the PV system. Lifetime and degradation science (L&DS) allows for the development of new metrology and metrics, coupled to degradation mechanisms and rates. ...
متن کاملPitfalls of Accelerated Tests
As product development cycles become shorter, and companies demand more rapid achievement of reliability goals, it is becoming more and more important to use quantitative Accelerated Life Tests (ALT) to predict and improve reliability. Today there is an abundance of methods to plan and analyze accelerated tests, but there are also many pitfalls. This paper identifies some major problems and con...
متن کاملStrategies To Address Mutagenic Impurities Derived from Degradation in Drug Substances and Drug Products
This paper outlines strategies in alignment with ICH M7 for systematically assessing the potential risk posed by mutagenic degradants in active pharmaceutical ingredients (API) and formulated products. A mutagen risk assessment (MRA) process that involves degradation should include results from focused drug substance and drug product stress testing experiments (e.g., at elevated temperature, a ...
متن کاملModelling accelerated degradation data using Wiener diffusion with a time scale transformation.
Engineering degradation tests allow industry to assess the potential life span of long-life products that do not fail readily under accelerated conditions in life tests. A general statistical model is presented here for performance degradation of an item of equipment. The degradation process in the model is taken to be a Wiener diffusion process with a time scale transformation. The model incor...
